YouTube Artist to Pay Attention to: Trampled by Turtles – Victory

This is a little known group from Duluth, Minnesota that is growing in popularity like wildfire. They play modern bluegrass and are extremely talented… they also have some pretty awesome music videos.

YouTube Artist to Pay Attention to: Noah Covers “Sexy and I Know It” by LMFAO

Hey folks, it’s been awhile since I have posted a “YouTube Artist to Pay Attention To”… and this one is worth it. His tag is “only1noah” and he does covers on guitar and piano. One of his latest covers is “Sexy and I Know It” by LMFAO.

YouTube Artist to Pay Attention to: Charlie Puth & Emily Luther; Adele Someone Like You

Of the current posts I have made in regards to YouTube artists to watch, this video has to be the most popular already… and probably the first one I should’ve posted. Just like many others, Adele’s ‘Someone Like You’ song is one of my favorite songs. So much so, it’s the only song I can play on the piano and sing through. The YouTube profile name is: CharliesVlogs, hope you enjoy.

YouTube Artist to Pay Attention to: JoJoBear123

There’s a lot of “next-door” talent out in the world and you just have to look for it and be able to recognize it. JoJoBear123 has several piano covers of songs that aren’t even written for piano. He also has a few originals. It doesn’t take 1 million+ views or a viral video to recognize talent. Have a listen to an original song…

YouTube Artist to Pay Attention to: Linsey Pollak

Linsey Pollak is one of the most unique artists I have ever come across on YouTube. He makes all his instruments from hand out of various things like household appliances, to vegetables, to bicycles to condom bagpipes. Everything is hooked up to an amplifier to produce very unique and upbeat music. Have a look at his garden hose electric clarinet and his household duster recorder… also, it helps to have good speakers but it’s not necessary. From what I hear, Linsey is about finished with book as to how to make your very own household instruments.

YouTube Artist to Pay Attention to: Lindsey Stirling; Lord of the Rings

YouTube channel “lindseystomp” is where you can find all of Lindsey Stirling’s work. She is a very eccentric and happy violinist/dancer who covers many popular songs from Lady Gaga to Lord of the Rings to LMFAO to Zelda. She has played in settings like basketball games in New York to candid beach performances to orchesis performances. She is worth a listen.

What Is The Most Epic Song Ever? Requiem For a Dream Lux Aeterna vs. Star Wars Battle of the Heroes: Videos

I enjoy finding and listening to the most epic music ever written. I’ve always loved music and I absolutely love how a composer can write music down on a piece of paper that invokes the utmost power, energy and adventure. I’ve narrowed it down to 2 songs that I believe are the 2 most epic songs ever written… “Lux Aeterna” from Requiem for a Dream and “Battle of the Heroes” from Star Wars III. PS: If you don’t have a good quality sound system then you will not get near the full effect of these songs, a good bass is vital. Awesomely epic songs none-the-less. Also, if you believe there to be a more epic song out there, feel free to post it in the comment box below.

The Rise Of Dubstep, Featuring: Got Bass

A lot of you probably haven’t heard dubstep, or know little about it. Dubstep is a rising genre of electronic dance music that originated about a decade ago in the United Kingdom. It was just in 2009 that dubstep was reviewed as a genre by the New York Times.

The best way I can describe dubstep is that it’s a music designed to move your body to, regardless of dance ability. The beats are typically on 1 and 3 as apposed to 1, 2, 3 and 4 which makes it feel more natural. It is often syncopated allowing for a slower sense of rhythm than is actually the case. Dubstep is growing rapidly so don’t be surprised if shows start popping up near you. Think of it as a bar and dance club on steroids, complete with DJs and dancers. If you want a way to let loose for the night, find a dubstep show.

I have a cousin who is a rising DJ in the business, the video above is a promo for one of his performances. He goes by the name Rob Bass… a member of the  Got Bass crew. Lately, he’s been throwing tons of shows in Colorado, the second mecca for dubstep only behind the UK. Got Bass is expanding nationally so don’t be surprised to start seeing their name if you are looking for a show.

You can check out some of his sounds here. Or his Facebook page here.

2011 American Idol Winner Right Here

Just in case you haven’t noticed, Jacob Lusk is probably going to win American Idol 2011. So long as America knows true talent when they see it, but, we all know how that goes in seasons past. I saw last week’s episode online and have repeated the YouTube clip at least 10 times now. This week, even Randy Jackson said his “God Bless the Child” performance was the best performance he has ever heard, “ever, in the history of American Idol”. This man has the ability to detach me from any possible sliver of negative emotion. He has the ability to thrust a knife of soul deep into his own heart and bleed the feelings of a thousand lifetimes every time he gets up on the stage. Behold America, win or lose, your next American Idol…
